Service is limited to what fits into the container. Lids must touch plastic to plastic otherwise you are charged for extras. Anything placed next to your containers will be picked up and charged to your account as extra's. Please do not place anything next to your containers that you do not want removed. If you would like more than 4 extra bags of refuse collected, please contact our office via our "contact us" page.

Customers are responsible for access to containers. This means your containers must be within 5 feet of the edge of the road and spaced 3 feet apart and 5 feet from any obstructions. Dumpsters must have an approach of 60 feet and a viable turnaround. The lane of travel must be 14 feet high, 12 feet wide and be clear of vegetation.

If you feel you have been missed, inside of the companies control please contact us via our "contact us" page within 24 hours.

We will provide all containers for your refuse and comingled recycling . The glass container would be a customer supplied container, 20 gallons or less, made of a ridged material with holes in the bottom to allow the rainwater to run through.

The Recycle Program Adjustment is the charge for recycling. The Recycle Credit is the value of the recycled material that is shared with all Thurston County residential customers.

Recycle is mandated by the State of Washington and Thurston County. In 1989 the state mandated that all residents would pay for the recycle program. This was passed in the form of the “Waste Not Washington Bill”. Thurston County Ordinance 13696 section 3 explains the minimum level of service within the county.

Breakage during collection leaves glass shards in the paper that damage processing equipment and poses a danger to sorting crews. This reduces the recyclability of recycled paper and increases processing and disposal costs.

Did you notice a change in your statement? Your Refuse and Recycling charge has not changed. What has changed is the value of the recyclable material.

Why does this change? Every year in January, the commodity value is adjusted to reflect the previous 12 months actual proceeds. The annual value fluctuates with the world economy and values change from year to year.

What is the Commodity Credit? Commodity credit is created through the sales of the recyclable material collected in your service area. The revenue generated is returned to Thurston County Customers as an off set to the cost of collection.

How is the credit determined? Credits are calculated annually by taking the total commodity value received from customers in the previous 12-month period and dividing by the number of recycling customers. This produces an average recycling value per customer. Please look at the “Recyclables Value” on your statement. This credit rewards customer for their recycling efforts and reduces your overall bill relative to actual market value.

All charges on your statement have been approved by the Washington State Utility and Transportation Commission

General Commercial Service Questions

We offer two types of commercial services. Temporary and permanent. Temporary services can last 2-90 days. Permanent services are for customers who need a container for longer than 90 days and are serviced weekly.

Containers are usually delivered 1-3 working days after the order is taken. Containers may be ordered up to 30 days in advance of delivery.

Containers are for large amounts of compactable household trash. There can be NO hot ash, petroleum products, insecticides, hazardous waste, car batteries, engine parts, construction debris, roofing materials, concrete, or refrigerator/freezers, animal carcasses or parts in the containers. Please contact Darling at http://darlingii.com for animal rendering.

Demurrage is the rent on a drop box.

E & R stands for empty and return. This is the hauling charge when we empty a drop box then take it back to the customer’s site.

We bill drop boxes once a month. Since we bill after the fact we bill at the beginning of the month for service provided in the previous month.
